Jupiter, Mars, Neptune

First, a ramble. I know you've been very interested in all the photos I've been posting, but I'm planning an upgrade. I had ordered a telescope a month ago, but that order has since been cancelled. It seems that with COVID, many of the factories that make these telescopes and mounts experienced a shut down and now many telescopes are on back order everywhere. They just went ahead and cancelled my order since they didn't know when they could fulfill it. However, I have placed a new order. The telescope has shipped, but the mount is still on back order (expected to ship in 1-2 weeks, fingers crossed). I'll have a post dedicated to the equipment once it arrives.

Until then, lesser quality photos!

Jupiter: Took another try at this. Tried two different methods: stacking photos and stacking frames from a video. These were both taken on my Lightdow 400-800mm at 800mm.

Photo Stacked Jupiter:

Pretty decent! You can see the two main bands!

Video Stacked Jupiter:

Sharper, but smaller.

Mars: I tried both methods with Mars as well, with similar results.

Lastly, Neptune was at opposition last night. Neptune is much fainter than Jupiter or Mars, and in my light pollution I cannot see it with the naked eye. So I pulled back to my 200mm lens for this capture. Now, if you didn't know it was in this frame, you wouldn't know it. It really just looks like a star. But I promise, Neptune is here. It's in the upper quarter, right of center.
